While the practical applications of horror classic FRIGHT NIGHT might have always been in doubt, in the age of social distancing we see two neighbors truly crossing lines in both the 1985 and 2011 versions of these comedic takes on the vampire genre. And while one host likes his vampire neighbor a bit more aggressive when he comes over to borrow a can of beer the other host, perhaps due to his southern gentlemen upbringing, prefers the charm of an unbuttoned shirt and a come hither gaze. Peter is back after being thrown OVERBOARD for our first episode of 2019, but he gets his revenge on co-host Mike by taunting him over his lack of a shoe rack built by The Great Kurt Russell. As it turns out in that 1987 film his co-star Goldie Hawn also does not get such magnificent shelving for shoes and instead through the movie magic of amnesia finds out that she is married to Mr. Russell (life imitates art, I guess) and is now a blue collar mother of three. This original film gave birth to another remake but on this episode we are talking about the 2018 version starring Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris. And we were not amused. For Christmas 2018 one of us decided to make a trip to theater to see Illumination's new animated GRINCH movie. And while Mike came away pleasantly surprised at this latest version of the Grinch cinematic universe, Peter truly played the part and stayed inside like a hermit to watch the 1966 and 2000 versions of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. We debate the merits of telling this story in a longer form, animated vs. live action, and most importantly of all... do loyal dog companions really care if their Christmas treat says "naughty" or "nice" on it?
