For READY PLAYER ONE we do some counting of our own, though as usual we can only manage getting up to two movies. No matter, as this time our original film is the Walter Matthau starring THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE from 1974 and our remake casts Denzel Washington in 2009 for the same part as a train conductor trying to negotiate the release of hostages in New York's subway tunnels. If you want to continue the counting game, try your hand at how many expletives John Travolta throws out during his negotations and also how many times host Peter lets you know that he continues to hate Mr. Matthau. On this episode we gather up our friends (more specifically Peter and his partner Mike the Troll) to take on not one but TWO alien invasions in the films ATTACK THE BLOCK and SUPER 8. Separated by months in the States back in 2011, these two films share similar premises of teenagers coping with an alien presence in their small communities and we share our own experiences growing up to inform our outlook.
